LMS Restoration Appears on Episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

December 11, 2012

If you were one of the millions of people who watched the popular ABC television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Monday night (December 10), then you saw local Paris company LMS Restoration assist in the project! Local newspaper eParis Extra was also there to cover the story.

The episode featured military hero Sgt. Shilo Harris and family from San Antonio, Texas.  An IED explosion nearly took the life of Sgt. Harris, and afterwards he endured endless months of painful surgeries.  Throughout this trying time, Shilo and his loyal wife, Kathreyn, found their true calling; to help wounded warriors through the agonizing and traumatic process of recovering, rehabilitating and learning to bravely face a life that has forever been altered.  Shilo, once sufficiently healed, began a career as a motivational speaker, giving hope to those similarly impacted.  Kathreyn, taking up the cause as well, began working for the Army Wounded Warrior Project.  Shilo and Kathreyn have now dedicated their lives to giving back.

The Build took place during the week of January 15th through the 20th in Wilson County, near San Antonio, removing the old existing structure and building a new home for the Harris Family.

LMS Restoration assisted in this project by donating equipment, including a trailer-mounted dehumidifier and a trailer-mounted generator, as well as round-the-clock monitoring and labor to expedite the drying of the finished texture, primer and paint.

LMS Restoration was on site from January 18th to January 19th, and was given a 9 hour window to complete the drying.  “We were able to finish the drying three hours early. The producers were impressed with our efficiency and knowledge.  Our role in the project was critical due to the fact that if the walls were not thoroughly dry, it would cause a delay to the limited time schedule.  5 days is an unheard of time frame to build a house, so every minute counted,” said Mike Lane, Operations Manager for LMS Restoration.

LMS Restoration is a locally owned and operated Paris business, created in 1997 by owner Don Preston, who is a Certified Restorer, one of only eight in the state of Texas.  LMS Restoration provides emergency response services to homes and businesses with fire or flood damage, or those in need of basic remodeling, as well as carpet cleaning and air duct cleaning services.
